Structual Engineering

Primary vision of the Civil Engineering Department at NUV is to impart knowledge and education pertaining to the latest innovations and technologies employed in the industry. The department focuses on core competency and overall development of students while also keeping the students updated with the active research and development in various facets of Civil Engineering. The department possesses well-equipped laboratories, state-of-the-art facilities and boasts of a strong industrial connect which ensures that the program conducts research on innovative problems faced by the industry. The department offers a wide range of electives designed specifically to enhance the engineering skills and impart knowledge and expertise demanded by employers in industry and academia. The department has well equipped laboratories such as Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Concrete Technology, Surveying, Transportation Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

Faculties of Structural Engineering

Department has well qualified and experienced faculty members with expertise on Finite Element Analysis; Advanced Reinforced Concrete Design; Design of Steel Structures; Fracture Mechanics; Continuum Damage Mechanics; Earthquake Engineering, Plates and Shells, Computational Solid Mechanics.

The M.Tech Curriculum

  • The M.Tech curriculum has been designed to balance the requirements in industry and academia
  • The course work includes good blend of compulsory and elective courses like Theory of Elasticity, Experimental Stress Analysis, Fracture Mechanics, Advanced Finite Element Methods, Advanced Concrete Technology, Advanced Structural Design, Smart Materials and Structure and Continuum Damage mechanics etc.
  • Considering the need of Industry requirement, various professional software training is included in curriculum
  • The Dissertation will include Experimental and Analytical research work as per students' interest
