Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUV is a place to study the
fundamentals and the latest technologies used in industries. The department
focuses on the core competency and overall development of the students. It has
well-equipped laboratories, state-of-the-art facilities and strong industrial
collaborations ensuring that the program is cutting edge and addresses
innovative research leading to new product development. The Department offers
a wide range of electives designed to enhance and develop the engineering skills
demanded by employers in industry or academia.
Faculties of Thermal and Fluid Engineering
The faculties are well qualified and experienced with expertise on Computational
Fluid Dynamics, Heat Exchanger Design, Solar System Design, Cryogenic
Engineering, Thermal Power Plant, Numerical Methods, Refrigeration and Air
conditioning, Advanced Gas Dynamics.

The course focuses on Thermal and Fluid Engineering. Thermal Engineering
has wide scope of employment in India and abroad. Engineers are employed
in the areas of research, development, design and application.
M.Tech Mechanical (Thermal and Fluid Engineering) is a two year (four
semesters) graduate program. The course consists of first year (2- semester)
focusing on advanced Thermal and Fluid engineering courses like
Computational Fluid Dynamics, Design of Thermal Systems, Alternate Energy
Sources, Energy Audit Management, Advanced Thermodynamics and Fluid
Mechanics, Cryogenics, Design of Pumps and Design of Turbines. The second
year focuses on the applications of the courses covered in the first year by
undertaking a research project. Additionally, M.Tech Program also allows
students to choose from the interdisciplinary courses across the University to
develop the expertise in Research methodology, Management,
Entrepreneurship and various other subjects.

The minimum qualification required is
bachelor's degree from a recognized University / Institution
having Mechanical/Aeronautical/Energy as a major
subject. Those who are due to appear in qualifying
examination can also apply.
Through Admission Committee
for Professional Courses (ACPC) as per government
Merit cum Means scholarship for 4 students
in a year.
