In our highly flexible Bachelor of Design program, we believe in learning by doing, and a major portion of the curriculum focuses on hands on learning. By following the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach, we ensure emphasis is given to the thought process, rather than final output. Through the program, students will enjoy the benefits of working at our state-of-the-art facilities, like the SEDA Material Lab, wood workshop, pottery and photography labs.
The program introduces and develops the skills and knowledge necessary for contemporary design practice. It is also designed with an objective to widen students’ knowledge, to help cultivate the right kind of values, ethics and attitude required for being a socially responsive citizen. This includes in-depth studies about societies and its historic context in different regions of India and beyond, international influences and the evolving values of our society, art and craft of different regions, the changing economy, and also increasing awareness about the environment.
Interior
The Interior Design program provides a balanced focus on process, as well as project-based learning through Space Planning, Residential, Adaptive Reuse, Retail and Corporate Interiors, Furniture Design and Theatre Design Studios, supplemented by technical and skill-based courses.
The program is a flexible one, where students of BDesign Interior can opt for many courses from BDesign Landscape and tailor their degrees as per their interests.
Each year, study tours are organized to conduct a relative study program for development of important skills like sketching, photography, documentation and hands-on knowledge of construction techniques.
Landscape
In the Landscape program, students are encouraged to combine creative design skills with a concern for the environment and sensitivity to ecological systems. It is an extremely relevant discipline for current times and has immense potential for the future.
The program is multi-disciplinary and consists of courses in design, sciences and humanities. The flexible program also allows for students of BDesign Landscape to opt for many courses from BDesign Interior to tailor make their degrees based on their interests. Similarly, as the discipline of Landscape is complementary to the discipline of Architecture, students will have multiple collaborative possibilities in the form of studios and several other subjects.
The course involves intense practical training and students will be exposed to the profession through site visits, lectures and workshops with eminent professionals. Students undergo a summer training program in the senior year with landscape architecture practices, which will expose them to the professional field.
