Our students learn to respond to our natural environment and cater to spatial needs and aspirations of individuals and the society. SEDA has some of the most talented and passionate, internationally acclaimed faculty members, who not only teach but also practice architecture.
The school has been established to offer broad-based education in Architecture and Design keeping the future needs of the industry and the concerns of the society in mind. The following degree programs are offered by SEDA - Bachelor in Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor's in Design (BDesign- Interior/ Product Design/ Visual Communication).
In our highly flexible Bachelor of Design program, we believe in learning by doing, and a major portion of the curriculum focuses on hands on learning. By following the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach, we ensure emphasis is given to the thought process, rather than final output. Through the program, students will enjoy the benefits of working at our state-of-the-art facilities, like the SEDA Material Lab, wood workshop, pottery and photography labs.
The Bachelor of Interior Design program introduces and develops the skills and knowledge necessary for contemporary design practice.The programme originated from understanding the growing need for trained interior designers in our society. All courses in B. Design Program are curated to aid the process of Design, Visualization and Making.
By focusing on specific aspects of interior design, such as attention to interiority with appropriate material knowledge, the course is also designed with an objective to widen students’ knowledge, to help cultivate the right kind of values, ethics and attitude required for being a socially responsive citizen. This includes in-depth studies about societies and its historic context in different regions of India and beyond, international influences and the evolving values of our society, art and craft of different regions, the changing economy, and increasing awareness about the environment. The Interior Design program provides a balanced focus on process, as well as project-based learning through Space Planning, Residential, Adaptive Reuse, Retail and Furniture Design, supplemented by technical and skill-based courses.
Each year, study tours are organized to conduct a relative study program for development of important skills like sketching, photography, documentation and hands-on knowledge of construction techniques.
The program is a flexible one, where students of BDesign Interior can opt for many courses from BDesign Landscape and tailor their degrees as per their interests. The BDesign syllabus mainly outlines the curriculum and coursework that students will undertake, covering subjects related to interior design principles, space planning, and design software.
