Dr. Amit Patwa

Associate Professor

Dr. Amit Patwa is an Associate Professor in Chemistry under School of Science and IQAC Coordinator. He received a Ph. D. degree in Chemistry (under the guidance of Prof. K. N. Ganesh (Padma Shri awardee 2023, Science and Engineering) and Dr. (Mrs.) V. A. Kumar) from National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. He has over 22+ years of experience in research, industrial, academics and general administration. 

Prior to joining Navrachana University, he worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at Boston University, Boston, USA (2015-2017). He was involved in synthesis, characterization, and purification of contrast agent for sensitive and quantitative cartilage imaging. Prior to that, He was a post-doctoral research fellow at INSERM, Bordeaux, France for five years. His research work was focused on molecular recognition and the use of bio-inspired amphiphiles to create novel supramolecular assemblies for multiple applications ranging from molecular building blocks for self-assemblies, to nucleic acids imaging to drug or biomolecule delivery systems (2009-2015). Dr. Patwa has published total 25+ original research papers in peer reviewed high-impact international journals with total citations over 900 and h-index 17 and i10-index 22. He is recipient of a prestigious Core Research Grant of 39 lakhs from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, Government of India for Research project entitled “Oligonucleotide Amphiphiles based Supramolecular Systems for targeted drug delivery for cancer therapeutics”. Currently, Dr. Patwa is guiding one PhD students and four MSc students for their dissertation work. He has delivered several talks at National and International Seminars and conferences. He has been serving as a reviewer for John Wiley & Sons publication. He is also serving as an IQAC Coordinator from past two and half years in addition to his regular teaching and research responsibilities. The role of the Coordinator of the IQAC is crucial in ensuring the effective functioning of all the members. 

Dr. Patwa has demonstrated a steadfast commitment by leading the IQAC team throughout the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Accreditation Process over the period of two years. PhD Thesis work was focused on the studies towards the design, synthesis and X-ray crystal structure studies of ferrocene-nucleobase conjugates. Learning through active interaction between an instructor and a student is a part of teaching. Thus, his goal is to ensure students have a better understanding of basic concepts, theories and practical knowledge so that they may apply this information to their future research or professional activities.
