Dr. Pushparani Naorem

Dr. Naorem Pushparani Chanu is an innovative academician who bridges the gap between theory and real-world applications with a passion for economic development. Her academic journey showcases her commitment to Economics and Development Studies. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Economics from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She further pursued her M.Phil. in Economics at the Central University of Hyderabad and completed her Ph.D. in Development Studies at the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata. During her doctoral research, she was awarded the ICSSR institutional Doctoral Fellowship and successfully declared the UGC-NET in Economics. Dr. Chanu has presented her research papers into leading international and national conferences. So far, she has published thirteen academic papers in reputed journals including Scopus Indexed, ABDC and UGC-Care listed journals.

  • Prior to joining academia, Dr. Chanu served as a Research Assistant at the OKD Institute of Social Change and Development.

  • Dr. Chanu teaches Micro Economics, Macro Economics and Development Economics 

Area of Expertise and Research 

  • Her research area focuses primarily on Migration, Labour and Demography. However, she also works on other developmental issues pertaining to Northeast India.
