Background
Rati Kanetkar is currently serving as a Teaching Assistant at the School of Environmental Design and Architecture (SEDA), Navrachana University. She has previously worked with Sumessh Menon Associates in Dubai, following which she pursued independent freelance projects in the region. Her professional experience spans multiple cities in India, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. In addition, she has previously coached students preparing for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).
She is an alumna of SEDA, Navrachana University, where she completed her undergraduate studies in Architecture. Teaching
Rati Kanetkar draws inspiration for her teaching approach from her mentors at SEDA. She emphasizes the importance of developing architectural projects through a stage-wise process, underpinned by in-depth research and self-directed learning. ● Secured All India Rank #1 in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2015.
● Thesis project Vad of Vadodara selected and presented at the Heritage Trust of Vadodara’s exhibition, in collaboration with Navrachana University.
● Ranked among the Top 30 in the Render Battle Competition (RB-6007) by The Charette.
● Winner of the SEDA Amphitheatre Shade Design Competition (2016).
● Winner of the Wildlife in 2050 Drawing Competition at Navrachana University.
Research
As part of her undergraduate thesis at SEDA, Navrachana University, Rati Kanetkar conducted an in-depth study titled Landscape Values of Banyan Tree in Vadodara. The research explored the ecological, cultural, and heritage significance of the banyan tree within the city. The project was further developed into a digital initiative titled Vad of Vadodara, a website designed to raise awareness about the city’s banyan heritage, which was later presented at the Heritage Trust of Vadodara’s exhibition.
