The conference brought together research scholars, academicians, legal luminaries, and students

Vadodara: Navrachana University, the region’s premier multi-disciplinary private university, organised a National Conference on Law and Policy on Friday in an attempt to understand the innate relationship between law and public policy through various contemporary themes and sub-themes.

Organised by the university’s School of Business and Law, the conference was inaugurated by former Supreme Court judge Justice CK Thakkar, Dr. Mohan Dewan, Principal at RK Dewan and Co, Navrachana University Provost Prof Pratyush Shankar, Associate Dean Dr. Hitesh Bhatia, and Principal of Law Dr. Sujata Patil.

“Public policy must be dynamic for it to pave the way for the development of new laws,” Dr. Sujata Patil said in the welcome address, explaining the objective of the national conference.

In his address, Justice CK Thakkar said, “The shift of the Supreme Court’s approach from strict to the harmonious interpretation of Constitutional provisions has made a remarkable contribution to the development of public policy. Public policy is a part and parcel of the legal system and hence an attempt to study the innate relationship of Law and Public policy is the necessity of the day.”

Dr. Mohan Dewan, who is a well-known expert in the area of IR rights, said, “Law and public policies are dynamic in nature and should adapt themselves to the changing times to stay relevant,”

Dr. Archana Gadekar, associate professor at MS University Baroda, Navin Sinha from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Garima Goswami from Gujarat National Law University and Dr. Priyanka Behrani from Navrachana University were the resource persons for the technical session.
