Background
Over years of professional experience working in public & private sector urban design, planning & conservationbased projects. Public sector such as Birmingham City Council (UK) and Nottingham City Council (UK). The private one includes being part of Consultancy Team at Bhaikaka Center for Human Settlements, APIED, India and Brown & Keener (Philadelphia, U.S.). Experienced in revitalization, strategic planning, mixed used and sustainable development. Coordinated various planners & staff training workshops promoting better quality of built environment. Excellent knowledge of land use, zoning, infrastructure, environmental planning and urban design principles.
Scholarship and Accomplishments
- Awarded Rashik Shah Award for securing Second Position in Design Studio in Fourth Semester (1998-1999).
- Achieved Certificate of Academic Performance – Shri Mahendra Modi Award for securing Second Position in Design Studio in Ninth semester (2OO1- 2OO2)
Teaching Experience
Over 6 & half years of full-time teaching experience at APIED. Have taught undergraduate courses such as B. Arch,
B.I.D. and postgraduate courses such as Masters in Urban Planning & Masters in Interior Design. Have focused on design studios, theory subjects, guiding dissertation students and examinations as a University Examiner.
Was part of the ADHOC Board of Studies for B.Arch & B.I.D. at Sardar Patel University (2O15 – 2O19). Coordinated and initiated several workshops for the academic development of the students such as Hands on Conservation Workshop at Nagaur, Rajasthan, by Ar. Meenakshi Jain, Intensive 2-Day Workshop on Motivation & Thesis Orientation by Ms. Jabera Suleman, a “Two-Days Planning and Design Sustainable Campus – Large Area Mixed Use Projects Workshop” by Ar. Lalit Kishore Bhatti and so on. Have also worked as a teaching Assistant at University of Central England, Birmingham (U.K.) for a year assisting in 1st Year design studio of B. Arch course.
Research and Publications
Researching on scope of Form-Based Codes for Historic Indian Cities. “A Summary of the hands-on Experience of the Conservation Project Ahhchitragardh Fort- Nagaur” (to be published). Article was published in A+D Journal (Issue August 2O16), Buildotech Journal (Issue June 2O16) and Architizer online (May 2O16).
Consultancy
Actively participated as an Urban Design Associate in preparation of Development Plan for AVKUDA) Anand – Vallabh Vidyanagar – Karamsad Urban Development Authority. The Draft Development Plan was published in 2O14. Was also part of the team empanelled with Rajasthan Government & Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Have taken initiative for digitizing Historic Tikka Maps of Sidhpur, for the City Survey Office, Sidhpur Municipality.
